Å gjengi ordrer og forespørsler

Når vi ønsker å gjengi en ordre eller en forespørsel, kan vi bruke et verb som 'tell' med en to-bistening: He told me to go away. Mønsteret er verb + indirekt objekt + to-bistening. Det indirekte objektet er personen som snakkes til. Andre verb som brukes til å gjengi ordrer og forespørsler på denne måten er: command, order, warn, ask, advise, invite, beg, teach og forbid.

Forespørsler om objekter

Forespørsler om objekter gjengis ved å bruke mønsteret "asked for" + objekt.

Forslag

Forslag gjengis oftest ved å bruke verbene suggest, insist, recommend, demand, request og propose, etterfulgt av en that-bistening. 'That' og 'should' er valgfrie i disse setningene, som du kan se i de første to eksemplene nedenfor. Husk at suggest, recommend og propose kan også etterfølges av en gerundium for å elimenere det indirekte objektet (den som får forslaget), sånn at det blir det høfligere. Denne måten å bruke gerundium på er illustrert i de fjerde og femte eksemplene nedenfor.
