I kondisjonalis II setninger kan man også bruke samtidsformen av presens kondisjonalis.

Funksjon

Denne formen er vanlig i kondisjonalis II (type 2 conditional) setninger. Den uttrykker en uavsluttet eller pågående handling eller situasjon, som er det sannsynlige resultatet av en uvirkelig tilstand.

Eksempler

I would be working in Italy if I spoke Italian. (But I don't speak Italian, so I am not working in Italy)
She wouldn't be living with Jack if she lived with her parents. (But she is living with Jack and not with her parents).
You wouldn't be smiling if you knew the truth. (But you are smiling because you don't know the truth.)

Presens kondisjonalis samtidsformen av alle verb består av tre deler:
would + be + presens partisipp
Presens partisipp (present participle) består av verbets grunnform + suffikset '-ing'.
